Masterclass: Promoting Safeguarding & a Safeguarding Culture

This one day masterclass, facilitated by Glenys Hurst Robson, Associate Facilitator, The Athena Programme will will provide you with the tools to develop a safer culture of vigilance within your organisation.

It will raise your awareness of current risks and how to utilise a range of tools and audits to manage regulatory compliance and help mitigate exposure during Serious Case Reviews and/or Serious Adult Reviews.

The course content is based on current Safeguarding Legislation and Guidance (Children Act 1989, 2004, The Care Act 2014 and the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006) as well as other regulatory requirements required by the Care Quality Commission. It matches the skills and knowledge required from the NHS Intercollegiate Documents for roles and competencies in Safeguarding for named professionals.

It will explore compliance in:

  • Understanding and exploring safer cultures.
  • Multi-Agency Duty to co-operate.
  • Safeguarding Strategically.
  • Safeguarding training frameworks.
  • Safer Working Practice.
  • Safer Recruitment, Selection and Induction.
  • Methods of Quality Assurance for safeguarding .
  • A golden thread approach to safeguarding.
  • Safeguarding action plans.
  • Safeguarding champion models.

Key Learning Objectives

  • Understand and commit to a safer culture of vigilance and a risk management culture i.e. Audits, Q&A of safeguarding concerns SCR’s and SAR’s duty to co-operate.
  • To be able to prepare meaningful reports, timetables of staff training and policy reviews for your organisation and partnerships.
  • Contribute to the referral processes and on-going investigations.
  • Safer working practices with children and adults at risk.
  • Contribute to legal and audit processes.
  • Safeguarding groups and terms of reference.
  • Ongoing assessment and managing risks.

Portland Place is just north of Oxford Circus. The nearest NCP car park is approximately 300 yards away. Follow the A4201 past De Vere West One taking the second left turning onto Weymouth Street, then take the second left onto Weymouth Mews.
